Deciding on location can play a vital role when starting a business. It can affect your business quite substantially. It can lead to growth or in the worse case, bankruptcy. Location is crucial. Some businesses may do good in one place then bad on another. In this case, you may need to move your business to another location. Business relocation can also be a result of not being able to get qualified candidates for your requirements. As HR Manager, I had experiences having people cancel their application because our office is just too far from their homes and they are not willing to relocate. It makes recruitment difficult and having highly qualified people is very important in making a business work. Relocation, in this case can also be an option.

However, in business moving, it is very important for you to study things very thoroughly before you make a move. You would not want to make the same mistakes again. Consider all aspects of your business - finance, your target market, recruitment and all other things. It is better if you can find a location where all these aspects are present but in case you don’t, you have to weigh things and try to make things work positively. If you find a place where you can find really qualified people but with tough competition, you will have to scrutinize it’s pros and cons. Think if you will be able to win the competition or not. If not, then you might consider just providing a housing program or a higher than standard salary to your personnel which can be costly but can be worth the investment.

Business relocation does not only mean moving from one place to another because things did not work out. It can also mean that business is doing great that requires you to move to a bigger office space. However, there are also factors that you will need to consider on deciding where you will move your office. There are some personnels who may not be comfortable or amenable to the move. In this case, you may have to adjust salaries. In this case, it is better if you can find a place within the vicinity - much better if it is in the same building.
