Eva Midgley

European born writer-director Eva Midgley began her professional career at advertising giant DDB Needham Asia, where she was a PM on a documentary on East Timor.  After moving back to Europe, Eva worked as a Producer for Photography for leading European brands and photographers. The success of these relationships led her career into the world of Publishing, working as fashion director at Esquire and Algemeen Dagblad where she collaborated with an international roster of renowned fashion and portrait photographers.

After helping to facilitate the creativity of other artists, Eva decided it was time to support her own. Her first short film, Honey and Bunny, was a response to the male-dominated view on female identity. She wrote and directed eight art films for high-end British fashion brand Coco de Mer that screened at festivals worldwide and earned numerous awards, winning the Destricted Film Competition.

Eva’s film, Peep Show, was part of the Official Selection at LA Shorts Fest and Hollyshorts. The Magic of Valerie B. screenplay was Finalist winner at the Atlanta Film Festival. Her recent music video Open Highway Headstart screened at Hollyshorts. Her most recent project, The Birthday Cut, a very personal intense family drama, has had an amazing festival run. The film opened the Toronto International Shorts Festival, was shortlisted at LA Shorts and won Best Drama at New York Shorts International Film Festival. The Voice of a Woman screenings at Cannes and New York featured her commercial work, and she has judged the AICP Next Awards and Shiny Awards.

While Writing, Producing and Directing her original projects, Eva works worldwide, directing commercials for brands like SKII, Mac Cosmetics, L'Oréal, Dove, and Tresemmé.
